Frequently asked questions

  • What is the LEVEL TEST? It is a written and oral test that helps us determine which level is best for you so that you can get the most out of the course. The tests are taken in person and consist of a listening comprehension section, a language use section (on paper) and a written text. Sometimes there is also a short oral interview.

  • What happens if I have difficulty taking the level test? Please contact the Spanish Department as soon as possible and explain what you need.

  • I don't know any Spanish. Do I have to take the level test? Yes, all students have to take the level test. Students who have never studied Spanish before take a short test to assess their recognition of sounds and letters.

  • I have studied at a CFA (Adult Education Centre). Do I have to take the test or can I choose my level? You have to choose the LEVEL TEST because the CFA and EOI programmes are not the same. It is best to come and check what EOI level you have.

  • I have studied at a private school. Do I have to take the test? Yes, programmes from schools that are not EOI or DELE exam certifications do not always correspond to our levels, so you must take the test.

  • I studied at the EOI Vall d'Hebron before. What should I do? If you have an EOI certificate, you can choose your level, but you must attach a photo of the certificate or the document. If you do not have an EOI certificate, you can make an appointment at the secretary's office and request one, or if you prefer, choose TEST and contact the department at this email address: esp@eoibcnvh.cat, indicating the course, teacher and level you completed.

  • I studied at the EOI Drassanes. What should I do? If you have an EOI certificate, you can choose your level, but you must attach a photo of the certificate or the paper. If you do not have an EOI certificate, you can make an appointment at the secretary's office and request one, or if you prefer, choose TEST and contact the department at this email address: esp@eoibcnvh.cat. We will try to contact the EOI Drassanes to confirm your level or we will ask you to come and take a level test.

  • I don't know my level, what should I do? Choose LEVEL TEST and come and take the test.

  • I have an official certificate, what should I do? If you have an EOI or DELE exam certificate, choose your level and attach a photo/scan of your certificate.

  • How will I know when I have to take the test? You can check the EOI website, in the Spanish section, for information on new courses and the scheduled test dates. We will also send you an email inviting you to one of the dates. You can come on any of the scheduled dates.

  • What happens if I cannot come on the day of the test? Check the other scheduled days and come on another day that suits you better. You do not need to notify us of the change. If you cannot come on any of the scheduled days, please contact the Spanish Department as soon as possible at the following email address: esp@eoibcnvh.cat

  • When will I find out my level? Approximately 30-40 minutes after finishing the test, we will ask you to come back so we can tell you your level.

  • After taking the test, is my place guaranteed? No, the pre-registration process does not guarantee a place. There is a lottery for places because there may be more candidates than places.

  • Do I have to do anything after the test? Yes, we will inform you of the dates when you will need to log back into your pre-enrolment page to choose your timetable. You can choose up to 2 different EOIs and 4 timetables.

  • When will I know if I have a place? After the lottery, you will be able to see on your pre-enrolment page if you have obtained a place.

  • What do I have to do if I get a place? If you get a place, you have to enrol. You will have a deadline to do so. Once you enrol, you ONLY have 24 hours to make the payment from the moment you complete the enrolment. You can pay online or at an ATM if you print out the payment papers.

  • What happens if I don't pay within the deadline? ◦ If you don't pay within 24 hours, you will lose your place.

  • How can I pay if I don't have a card? Someone else can pay for you, regardless of who the card belongs to. If this is not possible, you can purchase a prepaid card for the amount of the registration fee at any post office in order to make the payment.

  • Are there any discounts or free enrolment fees? Yes, the Department of Education offers discounts on enrolment fees in some cases. You can check here. If you are entitled to a reduced or free enrolment fee, you will need to submit the required documentation to the registrar's office after enrolling.

  • What should I do if I am on the waiting list? When you pre-register, you will see that you are on the waiting list and a specific time frame. That is when you should try to enrol. If you connect later or earlier, you will not be able to enrol. If you cannot enrol, it is because there are no places available.

  • I am a citizen of Spain or a country where Spanish is the official language. Can I enrol? No, you cannot. This course is for foreigners. Only people over the age of 16 who are citizens of a country where Spanish is not the official language can enrol.
